Now that we are safely in the land of the free I can share some of my scary third world stories.
Coming home from a walk with the kids about two months ago I noticed a handsome 17-year-old black kid scaling the side of our house like spiderman. No shoes on- he just grips the siding with his spidey toes and effortlessly climbs right up to our balcony. Then he sees me. He jumps down, apologizes, says something about looking for his tennis ball, and runs off.
It gets better.
Later that week I had a dream that this same kid was breaking into our house, climbing up the stairs, slowly opening our creaky bedroom door. Enoch yells, I wake up and look and HELLO! he is standing four feet away from me in the doorway! He, of course, runs down out and away. Enoch chases him, loses him, calls the police. "Oh yes, that's Rodolfo," they say. A well-known full-time thief stealing for drug money. His mode of operation is to go straight for the bedrooms and grab peoples valuables.
But check this out- Panama has a law protecting minors so there is nothing the cops can do about this punk! They have caught him in the act several times and tried locking him up but the judge has to let him go. No consequences at all. I am very surprised that there aren't more delinquents running around. The detective's office couldn't even show Enoch a picture of the kid because it was against the law. Oh how I love America!
Is it starting to make sense now why we moved back?

That is an intense story. I would find some young kid to steal from him and when he called the cops they couldn't do anything...ok I know Jesus wouldn't want that.
