Hosanna has proved once again to be the sickly one in the family. She screamed bloody murder when the hospital put this bracelet on her, but being the girl she is she soon fell in love with it and wore it for days afterward.
It began with a week long cough, then a high fever that wouldn't go down with Tylenol and Motrin. We ran her over to a clinic, thinking that it must be bronchitis or pneumonia, but the doctor checked and said her lungs were "clear". The fever continued through the night, bringing about four separate seizures. Enoch and I took turns watching her breathe, very scary stuff.
We caught one of her episodes on camera here towards the end when she was coming out of it. You can tell she looks a little purple, drooling, with her eyes rolled to the side. Her hands always go to that position as well. We learned to keep her on her side to prevent her from choking on her tongue. My baby!

By morning we were concerned that this might be related to her Panama infection or something (although Dr. Moron had already assured me that fever-induced seizures are common and no reason to worry- ha!) so we rushed her to the nearest children's hospital.
Oh wait, first our car broke down on the way, then we made it back home to switch cars and get safely to the hospital. (Enoch's 89 Honda Civic has been renamed Old Trusty)
We get to the hospital, they check us in, they listen to her lungs- wait we hear something!, chest x-ray, and the diagnosis is pneumonia.
Woo-hoo! Pneumonia! Way better than all the worst case scenarios that had been running through our minds all night.
I held her to the bed as two nurses lifted their antibiotic syringes and jabbed her simultaneously on both cheeks. Then we went home. She loves her new pink "yogurt medicine" that she takes twice a day now. Mmm-mmm.
This was not how we pictured our next medical adventure but we have gotten some very important questions answered throughout all of it. Hosanna is a healthy girl. Panama will have no lasting effect on her. She is just one of those kids that can't handle high fevers, so we have to keep our eyes open for that in the future.
And the next day Rivka got it so we put her on "yogurt medicine" too. No scary seizures involved that time so it isn't a very interesting story.

Oh what a hard week you have had. Good to know it sounds like the seizures will disappear as she grows. McKay had 2 of those seizures when he was about 2...I well remember how scary they were.
Oh your poor babies! I'm so glad everything turned out okay =)
I am so happy that everything with Hosanna turned out okay and that you finally got some answers from the doctors in the US as to what is causing her seizures. I wish I was there to help you take care of everyone and smother those kiddos with love.
I'm trying to find a cheap ticket out to Houston so I can come pamper you and catch up with friends in the area. I'll keep you posted!
