Poor Lakewood

Before we moved overseas we lived aboard our sailboat in the beautiful marina of Lakewood Yacht Club. After leaving the boat we moved it across the lake to a different cheaper marina and put it up for sale. Our current marina proved to be a safe haven during a storm. Lakewood however...

Pictured above are some mega-yachts that ended up on top of the docks. Below is the saddest picture to me. It shows exactly where we used to dock our boat. Before Ike there was a dock running alongside the grass. That dock and all the boats berthed there are now MIA. And across the lawn you can see the cluster of cabanas in the middle of Lakewood. A few were used as weekend rentals (Mom, remember we stayed in one when you came to town?) but most of them are people's homes. Not much to come back to. Click on the picture to enlarge.

And someone's luxury car is among the death tolls of Hurricane Ike.
